What is the penalty rate for illegal optical fibre cables in Bangalore?
Q: In Bangalore reputed companies are laying illegally optical fibre cables. What is authorities doing and what will be penalty for these illegal laying?
Many of the optical fibre cables (OFCs) in the city were unauthorized and soon BBMP Bangalore will disconnect the unauthorized cables and this could disturb your plans of having internet connectivity if your service provider is one of them. What @abhilasha said is correct, BBMP Bangalore is expecting to generate revenue of around Rs 500 crore by levying a fine of Rs 900 per meter per cable for not obtaining the civic agency’s permission and legalize if the service provider pays the penalty.
Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has come up with an initiative to do away with illegal Optical Fibre Cables. A fine of Rs 900 will be imposed on every metre of illegally laid cable. The service providers will also be liable to pay a rent of Rs 120 per metre every month.
