Can the property be registered in the joint name of me and my wife?

Q: The builder buyer aggreement in my name even the home loan on the property is in my name. Can the property be registered in the joint name of me and my wife. kindly guide how? and whom to contact?

Hi Harish,

I don't know whether you can register joint name as it is your name in builder-buyer agreement. You could have taken a home loan jointly, so each person can avail of the tax benefits. I think you can register as there would be no objection from builder side but as the property is having home loan, the documents would be in the hand of bank. So please contact your legal expert to know more on the same. Thank you

Yeah you can register the property in the joint name but you cannot enjoy home loan benefits as the loan is in our name only.
