Thousands throng Mantralaya for flats in Hiranandani Gardens
Q: Thousand of Mumbaikars thronged the state secretariat Mantralaya to submit application forms in the city's upscale Hiranandani Gardens residential township in Powai.
Even last year, a single judge of the High Couirt had in January also restrained Lakeview Developers and others from constructing small 40 and 80 sq.mt houses after 8 housing societies, including Eternia, in the Powai Area Development Scheme took them to court. Because, the developer was merely following an earlier HC order to construct affordable housing.
Hi everybody,
Good news for owners of Hiranandani Gardens.....In a relief to residents of Hiranandani Gardens in Mumbai, the Supreme Court on yesterday dismissed a special leave petition filed by real estate czar Niranjan Hiranandani's company challenging a Bombay high court order that stopped him a few months ago from constructing small homes around their plush towers in Powai. The Supreme Court requested the HC to now soon decide a suit filed by these residents who are seeking conveyance of the land from the developer.
Right Santosh,
The developers had signed a tripartite agreement with the MMRDA and state to develop 230 acres in Powai for construction of MIG homes of 40 and 80 sq.mt. Residents' main opposition is that no additional buildings can come up on Sector IV-A of Powai Area Development Scheme. They do not want smaller homes in their "backyards".
Earlier, the High Court had directed Hiranandani on a PIL alleging violation of the conditions in February 2012 to construct smaller houses on remain vacant land.
The developer's argument is that unless the land is fully developed, conveyance cannot be executed.
Hi Abhijit, Looks like there seems to be some mischievous elements spreading these rumors with malicious intent. Hiranandani Developers were not available for any comments nor they could be contacted.
Hi Praveen, When I saw the application form it was mentioned that " I am poor and I am in need of a house". Really felt very bad when people do not have even basic shelter over their head when the ministers spend crores of rupees in elections campaigns and rallies.
Hi, It seems that the state Govt has launched a housing scheme for economically weaker sections to be developed by Hiranandani developers in Powai. But later came to know that the CM has denied any such schemes and has ordered a high level inquiry about the matter.
hey Deepankar, In fact there was a long rush awaiting the state secretariat office in Mantralaya the other day as I was passing through that way. Later came to know that locals from in and around Mumbai have come to file their application forms for 400 sqft flats located in Hiranandani Gardens in Powai.
Yeah Vineet, When I was on my way to office which is also located in Mantralaya, I noticed a huge crowd which started gathering outside the CM's office. Later when enquired came to know that they have come to have a flat ranging 400 sqft in Hiranandani Gardens.
