Which are the localities Pune metro will connect?
Samrat

The Pune Metro Rail Project will cover a length of 31.51 km along two corridors, viz. Corridor-1 covering 16.59 km from PCMC to Swargate and Corridor-2 covering 14.92km from Vanaz to Ramwadi.

Phase-I from Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate would be partially elevated and partially underground. Phase-II from Vanaz to Ramwadi would be fully elevated. The Phase-I would cost around Rs 6,960 crore, Phase-II would cost Rs 3,223 crore.

The Centre has approved the Pune Metro Rail Project. Once the project is completed it would definitely going to change the face of transportation system in areas under Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

Oh Ok. What is the final decision taken by the PMC?
Samrat

It was decided that all the routes in the city would be underground. In November 2011, the Maharashtra Government decided that all the routes would be underground. But again in April 2012, the PMC decided that all routes will be as per the DMRC report whic is mostly elevated and partially underground

Initial plans were to build a few sections underground and the rest elevated. But the citizens are not happy with the proposal as they felt that roads not bear the increased traffic and moreover most of the roads are very narrow to accommodate the pillars of elevated routes.
