You will have to pay property tax according to many factors like size of the house, and where your house is located. In the old rental value system, owners paid 15% of the rental value of the building. If the flooring used in your house is marble or luxury tiles, you will have to pay 15% extra. You can pay your property tax online at http://tax.lsgkerala.gov.in/epayment/, which is run by Information Kerala Mission.

The Kerala government adopted a new tax system in 2013 and it was its first tax revision in twenty years. In this system, you have to pay property tax based on the flooring, roofing, and the road connectivity. For example, if your house is in a road with width between 1.5m and 5m you will have to pay 10% extra. The new tax system is also divided into primary, secondary and tertiary sections. If your house is in a secondary area you will get a 10% tax concession, and 20% tax concession if it is in a tertiary area

Property tax is a form of revenue for corporations, municipalities and gram panchayats. If you own a property in Kochi you will have to pay Rs. 20 per square metre. But, this amount may increase according to various factors like material used, location of your property, and the age of your property. A new plinth-area based tax system was implemented by the Kerala government in 2013.
