Q: Will the construction of the Edapally flyover in Kochi increase real estate prices in the locality?
Latest Answer: But the work for this project finally began last year. KMRL ended up deciding to give 30 crores and the remaining funds was given by the State government. Only thing is this project is that it is taking such a long time to complete. It should be ready about 3 months from now but as of now people are still facing problems on that road. But Edapally is already quite well developed. There are other factors to make up for this inefficient road connectivity and the area is really coming into its own. The Oberon mall and Lulu mall are some of Kochi's biggest malls and it is located in Edapally. It's also really famous for the St George Church. I think investing here is a good choice :)

Q: I thought that the thevara road was badly in need of a road widening project but now that it might be shelved, won't the real estate potential of the locality also come down?
Latest Answer: The projects pending for 25 to 30 years were conceived for requirements with a time frame of 10 to 15 years. The situation has changed manifold sine then and today its obsolete. The authorities has to thinks better and come up with new ideas and most import implement with a time frame of 5 to 6 years.

Also poor animals like cows aren't going to choke on plastic and die a horrible death because that has also been known to happen in the past. The Urban Affairs Minister is proud of this project and he's even thinking about setting up a scientific abbatoir in the area. He's hoping he gets the funds for this futuristic advanced project and hopes that more people take this initative and support projects like this.

Q: What is the reason for the sudden increase in real estate prices in Marine Drive, Kochi? Does the area have potential?
Latest Answer: I think that there is a lot of potential in Kochi when it comes to real estate. And yes, Marine Drive will be the first location to really thrive! But there a few hitches, yes, that Marine Drive needs to overcome. Builders are getting annoyed with the number od residents associations that are sprucing up because they feel it affects their bilding activity. However the residents are keen on the builders having 3 shifts a day like in Bangalore instead of just 1, so that the project can be completed in 1 year instead of 3. The locality has a really great charm about it and the view is beautiful. One of the best places to live in Kochi! :)

Q: I read that work has commenced on the Palarivattom flyover, but what's the progress of the Vyttila and Kundannoor flyovers?
Latest Answer: Yeah, the Vyttila and Kundannoor flyovers are only in the planning stage. But the government are promising to complete these two projects quickly. These two flyovers will also be 6 lane flyovers and they will be around 800 metres long. Both the flyovers will be very useful for both the areas, especially Vytilla, with the Metro also coming nearby. There are plans to build the Metro over the Vytilla flyover. But, the traffic which is already very high in these areas will increase because of the construction work on these flyovers. These flyovers will hopefully ease traffic in the city once they are built.

Q: Are property prices and Indian currency expected to get strengthened since there is a new government formed? Also I am an NRI and willing to buy a property in Kochi. Are there many NRIs investing in properties in India?

Q: Is there still water-logging in Kochi city?
Latest Answer: Cleaning the drains and canals is not the only solution for solving the water-logging problem in Kochi. The corporation must find a scientific approach as some parts of Kochi are below sea level. In some localities interlocking bricks have been used to stop roads to become water-logged. In February, the deputy mayor had said that Rs. 5 crore would be allocated for cleaning drains and canals. I don't know when this will actually happen.
