Q: I am super thrilled that the candidate ( Modi) from Varanasi is going to be the PRIME MINISTER of INDIA. I am also from Varanasi :) .Modiji has done a lot of development in Gujarat like like infrastructure, electricity, tourism, employment. I would like to know how the real estate market of Varanasi will perform in the coming quarters. Experts kindly comment
Hi Ravindra, There are many reason that currently plague the city and affect its real estate growth. The roads leading to the city centre are narrow and jam-packed. Even the residential high-rises are quite far from the city centre and the connectivity to these residential areas are bad. According to a well-known real estate agent in the city, it takes about an hour to get out of the city and reach the residential area, which most residents don't prefer. The city faces several civic problems. The River Ganges is completely polluted due to tourism, religious and other reasons. it also suffers from shortage of drinking water and electricity, while the waste disposal system is improper.
I am happy that Narendra Modi, participated from the city for the Lok Sabha elections. The city's real estate too suddenly got a big boost due to this. If the ring road comes in then Kashi will expand. Roads leading to village will see good days and people would want to come back. There are also 60 flyovers planned inside the city and connecting the banks of River Ganga which will again impact the real estate market. :) :)
He has done a lot for Gujarat and now its time he should do something for Varanasi. Finger crossed. :)
@Amreesh, I agree with your comment. Even Modi is also planning of setting new offices, setting up a new university town and other modern amenities around ring road. It is not possible to change the city, but its squeaking infrastructure will be upgraded. So new developments will happen in the areas around ring road.
With Modi being known as a development oriented statesman, there are several expectations from Varanasi's realty sector. I heard that Modi has also outlined his priorities for Varanasi. He has promised to revive the handloom and the handicrafts industry, cleaning up the Ganga ghats. He has also promised to transform the city as the country's cultural and intellectual capital.
