Not only Mysore city, but several regions of Mysore District are facing a water crisis. The groundwater level in the villages in the district has reduced and the residents have to buy water. Some villages in the district still do not get water from Kabini or Cauvery rivers, and the only source of water for them is borewells. The authorities have proposed to add water lines to 30 of these villages in a few months. Devegowda has also criticized the authorities of not supplying the public with adequate water supply. Many residents also complain of getting new water connections and damaged pipes.
The water situation in Mysore hasn't changed much, and most residents of the locality still face acute water shortage. During the summers Mysore has faced some water crisis. This is a strange situation because the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dam is just outside Mysore, and this dam stores water from the Cauvery river. The city faces a lack of drinking water and all promises made by politicians haven't been kept up by them.
