Q: I heard that the builders in Kochi are slowly turning into the eco-friendly way. How far is this true? Can you tell me the details about it?

According to the industry sources, Kochi is said to be one of the best places to start eco-friendly projects as it is the home of many real estate projects, and I am glad they’re rightly doing so. With about a total of 700 projects with a total area of 774 lakh square feet, Kochi’s real estate sector stretches from Aluva to West Kochi. There are about 2 lakh people staying in flats. The major density is concentrated in the areas of Kakkanad, Aluva, Tripunithura, and Edapally. CREDAI Kochi, as a part of social initiative, is planning to set-up bio-medical and e-waste processing facilities.

The news is true, man. Builders are now concentrating about green buildings right from the stage of its design inception. There are various things that cover the green building concept, such as conservation of water and energy, solar panel installations, water recycling, and judicial usage of natural light. While these are some of the proposed ideas, the builders are already implementing rain water harvesting and sewage treatment. Najeeb Zackeria, who is the managing director of Abad builders, said so.

Hey, the news is legitimate. The real estate sector in Kochi is striving to find a balance between environmental issues and infrastructure development. Even though the customers rarely pay attention to these things, many of the builders are changing their way. Also, the experts in the field predict that the state government will soon impose strict guidelines regarding the concept of green buildings and this can bring about a great change.
