Latest Answer: What the municipality as tried to do in Perumbavoor has actually been a fail so far. The recent one way route did little or nothing to help regulate traffic and only 10% of the total houses in Perumbavoor were given the compost pipes and biogas plant. According to me, a medical college and a traffic signal are the immediate requirements of this town. A medical college would do wonders as property worth would go up as more people demand for property here, especially people from high range areas. The government better efficiently use those 73 acres of Travancore Rayons land and proper scientific land use patters must be instilled. If not, Perumbavoor will def not be considered as the best place for investment in Kochi.

Q: Hai I have to move to Vaduthala but I heard that the road is very narrow and many accidents are caused. Has the Kochi Municipal Corporation extended this road yet?
Latest Answer: The corporation has promised that the work will be commissioned in 4 months time. But as of right now, there is complete disorder and chaos at Vaudathala crossing level because of the Pachalam road diversions due to bridge works. About 195 trains pass by here daily and it is extremely infuriating waiting for so long just to get to the other side. By the time a 2 lane bridge comes up at Vaduthala, bottlenecked portions of Goshree Mamangalam Road can be widened. But this 22 metre 4 lane project was put away by Kochi corporation as they didn't have enough funds for land acquisition. They had to resort to the 2 lane road. They should seriously get a move on and finish the project and bring some relief to the residents of Vaduthala.

Q: I hear that there have been a number of cases of building rules violations in Kochi lately. What do you guys know about this? Care to shed some light?
Latest Answer: Yes he’s right. This matter initially came to the attention of the authorities after they received a number of complaints about buildings in those localities which were violating all kinds of building rules. They were tipped off that the buildings were issued permits without even proper inspections done. On further investigation they discovered that many of those buildings have exceeding the floor limit and the area per floor limit. As a result the parking spaces were created a lot smaller than they were in the building plans. In some cases, there were no parking spaces at all.

Q: So I might have to move to Aluva in Kochi but I know nothing about the place. What sort of facilitites are lacking in this locality? Is it a good place to invest?
Latest Answer: Hey Aluva has a lot of promise and potential! I used to visit my uncle there and kept thinking to myself that someday I would move there as well. It is one of the better developed parts of the city. It is in quite a good location because the Nambussadry airport is just 12 kms away and the railway station is in Aluva itself where a lot of trains stop. The locality is also blessed with a number of malls and entertainment centres! And it's also got beauty because this is the place where three tributaries of the Periyar river merge with the Pooyamkutty river. And I've heard that property there is affordable with a lot of scope for appreciation. Good choice!

Q: I am moving to Aroor to set up a fishing company and I'd like to know if there are any good houses there?

There are IT parks, hospitals, schools and colleges, and shopping centres close to the project. You can take possession of the apartment by March 2015.

Q: Has there been any progress in the construction of the flyover at Palarivattom? Have they started the construction?
Latest Answer: To reduce the construction time, the project developers are thinking of using precast girder technology. In precast girders, the girder will already be made and they only have to bring the girder to the site and install it. This will save a lot of time. By mid 2015 the flyover should be open for use

Q: Do you think this Pachalam Railway overbridge will be helpful in anyway?
Latest Answer: I am glad this bridge is finally being built. I think the main problem for the delay of this project was land acquisition. Even in March this year, there were many traders who have shops in this area, protesting against the construction of the bridge. But now they have started work on the project, and they authorities have said that they will complete the project in record time. The level crossing which is near the Ernakulam junction and Shornur junction has had major traffic jams every day. This will hopefully reduce the traffic in the area.

Q: Doesn’t Kochi have a proper plan in disposing or recycling e-wastes? What happens to the e-waste in there?
Latest Answer: The present scenario says that there are no policies laid out for the proper disposal of e-wastes. This was told by Kochi Corporation’s town planning committee chairman K J Sohan. The current condition is that, the collection, segregation, dismantling, and recycling of electronic wastes are carried out largely by unorganised sectors. They collect various e-wastes like RAM chips, CPUs, monitors, and keyboards from scratch and sell them to small time deals and scratch collectors. The buyers are all come from various cities like Coimbatore, Mumbai, and Delhi.
