Hello. There is substantial problems of water supply in the area of Ganapathy and the reason for this is the change of the governing municipal body. The problems were not so worse before so its not like the area had an explosion of population in just a year. The rest of the population who depends on the water supply from borewell are also suffering with the same problems because there are only nine borewells out of which 7 have no supply at all. Two of the other borewell have open walls and dysfunctional motors, and there are leaks in the main supply lines as well.
I agree with you, the quality of water from the Coimbatore Corporation has really gone down in recent times. Apart from there being a shortage of water, the water is also polluted with sediments and worms as it sits for a longer time. Of course, the elite neighborhoods do not taste this problem at all. The chief sufferers of the problems are from the low economic households or rented apartments.
Hey! Ganapathy is quite an overpopulated area which can caused it to experience problems in traffic congestion as well as supply of water. Even though rain water harvesting is implemented so intensely in the area, the water stored is not sufficient enough to be supplied to all residents of the Ganapathy locality. In some other areas under Ward 1, the Coimbatore Corporation only supplies water once in 15 to 20 days. This water is okay in quality the first few days and then deteriorates immensely after the fourth day, and is unusable no matter how much it is boiled.
