As a result of this misunderstanding, some officials from the forest department started fighting with the irrigation dept employees and managed to break the checkpost too. This led to further retaliation by the irrigation officials when they locked up the pump house and other installations of the reservoir. They also absconded from duty demanding action against the forest officials. The truce meeting suggested that the checkposts be manned by officials from both departments, and this is hoped to solve the problem.

I agree with you, and additionally, the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage board official have realized that the issue was hoped to be resolved before it leads to disruption of water supply to the city, but it doesnt look very likely. The government has presently issued strict regulations to monitor the situation between irrigation and forest departments. The issue was that the employees from the dept of irrigation posted at the checkpost of the reservoir didnt let private vehicles enter the forest area even though they had a clearance sheet from the forest department.

Hello, you are correct about the disruption of water supply in Coimbatore localitis. There is currently a dispute going on between the Kerala irrigation officials and forest department of Siruvani reservoir at Kerala. This is risky because failure to resolve can lead to disruption of the water supply from Siruvani to Coimbatore city. The tension is so heavy in fact that the district collector of Palakkad had to convene a series of truce talks to break it. The internal issue is fast becoming a state-wide row which could affect the supply of Siruvani to the whole of Coimbatore.
