Q: I might need to relocate to Malakpet but I know that locality has faces many civic issues in the past. Can anyone tell me if the civic authorities have done anything about this?
2 years ago, the Subedar Amir Ali Khan road that is located adjacent to the Malakpet railway station, had knee deep sewage on the roads. Some had to carefully pick their way across, while other chose to take a diversion. Apparently the civic authorities came immediately to clear up the drainage, but the residents were still not satisfied. Who would be satisfied with temporary work that is anyway going to lead to the same problem again? The problem is that, cattle feed is getting washed away from nearby Chanchalguda area and silt is deposited from the murky napa and damages the drain pipe. I don't think much has been done about the situation because I haven't heard of any civic project being undertaken at Malakpet. But I'm sure some relief will be provided in the form of the new budget. Or at least something must be done to prevent the accumulation of cattle feed and silt.
Situation now is a just very bad. There is a overflow of the Drianage water from the manhole, which leads to viral fever and unhealthy. As well as we are unable to move on the street. We have launched complaints number of times at our local office. There is no proper action by the department. The drainage water is not letting us move our bikes on the street. It is almost as if the civic authorities don't care about Malakpet.
Malakpet has n number of civic problems. I used to live there till last year and then I had to relocate to Madhapur which was such a relief for me. I used to stay close to Saleemnagar and to this day I cannot forget the stink that used to come from open drainage pipes. literally the dirty sewage water will be seeping on the streets making it unbearable for us. And there was always very irregular water supply. 4 pumps were there but 2 never used to work. So 400 households had to depend on 2 pipes for water. When I left last year, the issue got a little better but the locality still faces accute water shortage. I don't even think investing here is very promising as compared to other places in Hyderabad.
