Q: I heard Coimbatore is very famous for its water quality. Now I want to know how the water supply is here. I’ll be shifting to Coimbatore in a few days, and any new updates on the water supply system will be great!
Yeah even I heard that the things are looking up for the water situation in Coimbatore. These recent showers helped us a lot. Now we will get water every other day! I heard the news that the corporation actually is considering to supply water to the 26 wards in Coimbatore on alternate days. This will help reduce the load on the Pilloor Reservoir as well. Actually these rains are helping the other reservoirs as well. Sholayar dam is also receiving a lot of water from these rains.
Hey no yaar! I’ve heard things are improving. Didn’t you hear that the Siruvani water reservoir levels are rising everyday? The corporation is also increasing the water supply accordingly. In the last week only, water level rose from a height of 28.54 feet to 37.4 feet, and the water supplied every day throughout the city rose from 67 million litre to 74 million litres. I think in the last 30 days the water level has raised up nearly 8 metres! So the corporation is now thinking of making the water supply more regular.
Haha.. yeah! You’re talking about the Siruvani water. It is pretty good, the second sweetest water in the world. But not everybody in Coimbatore is so lucky to get this water all the time. We are suffering from water shortage, and the corporation never supplies water to you on a daily basis. You must always keep a back up plan ready to go whenever you don’t get water here, which will be very often. There was barely any supply during the summer months, since the water level in the Siruvani reservoir had fallen drastically. We were all dependent on other water sources for a long time.
