Rain causing problems on A.B. Road

Q: How is the traffic along A.B. Road? Especially now that the monsoon is here. I’m moving to Indore, close to A.B. Road next week, and I just wanted to know about the situation in this city.

Conditions are not so good, but work is in progress to make it better I heard that the IMC are desilting all the blocked drainage lines, though. Another problem - trees are falling left and right, and right and people are getting injured because of that. But I’ve heard that the IMC control rooms will be open and functional 24x7 to help out any problems caused due to heavy rainfall. I also heard that the zonal offices will all deploy special teams to deal with the tree falling issue. Funds have been allocated to deal with any monsoon related problems in the city - an amount of Rs 5 lakhs actually.

I’ll suggest that if you’re moving here, then select an apartment which is set a little higher up. Because in some cases, water has seeped into the ground floors of some houses here. The civic body are not that prepared. There even is an open manhole in these areas. We only have to look out for it when we walk in those flooded streets, because otherwise, we’ll only fall in and hurt ourselves. Sometimes those two wheelers actually fall down in the ditches and trenches. And obviously the traffic problems are there. It takes me twice as much time to reach office nowadays.

To be honest with you I must admit that the rains are causing a lot of problems for us Indoreans. Initially we were all very happy when the monsoons started this year, because it has been an exceptionally hot summer. But you know after just a couple of days of heavy rains, things got really bad. Especially here in AB Road, where I live, waterlogging problems are a daily hassle. One day even my car got stuck in the water, after that I totally stopped taking my car out on those roads. This kind of situation clearly points out the blaring deficiency of a proper drainage system in the city
