Playground encroachment in Ranigunj, Secunderabad

Q: I heard there are major encroachment problems in the Ghasmandi playground in Ranigunj, Secunderabad. I want to know if the corporation is going to be doing something about it.

What I would like to know is whose fault is this. Because at the moment the residents are just blaming the corporation, who in turn are refusing to take responsibility for this. According to them, the municipality has been doing regular inspection rounds. They gave the reason that the playground was never used that’s why the encroachments happened. But still that’s not a proper reason. I mean, you cant encroach on any land, whether it is in use or not!

Hey do you know what the funny thing about this whole scenario is! After the residents complained the municipality decided to take it in a whole other way. So now not only they are clearing all these encroachers from this spot, but they have also decided to convert this playground into a park. This is quite contrary to the residents’ complaints, because they were hoping to just get the playground back, but now they will be getting a park instead. While the older generation might welcome this change, the younger residents of this place aren’t too satisfied because they will be losing their playground.

Okay so I’ve heard pretty much the same things as him. It used to be a park, and then shopkeepers started encroaching on the land, etc etc. They would mainly use it as a parking lot, especially at night. But did you know that residents actually complained against this? Yeah, they approached the municipal corporation and lodged an official complaint against this situation. They basically asked for a compound wall to be put around it and get rid of any unauthorised vehicle parked in there.

Yeah you’re right. This place is majorly a children’s park. I know because my sister’s house is there and her sons used to play in this place after their school. But what was happening was those local shops and all started opening up here. So that’s illegal encroachment right because they didn’t have any legal or official right over this land and they actually cannot build anything here without prior permission and a lot of paperwork.
