Q: Hi I might have to move to Mysore because I got a job there. I am actually from Hyderabad and I'm very clueless about Mysore. Can somebody please tell me if Mysore is a nice city to live in? Whether it has good infra facilities and real estate value? What are the negative points about living here?
Thing is that Bangalore is getting so crowded now that companies are looking at other cities to invest in. Mysore is one of them but will Mysore be able to handle all that growth and still retain its culture and heritage? Very doubtful about that.
Yes public transport options in Mysore aren't too great. Even the rail connectivity to Bangalore is poorly developed and doubling still hasn't taken place.
I agree. Mysore is a city that is culturally loaded. But still for a city that claims to be a tourist city, where are the tourist shuttle services? And why are the buses so poorly maintained with a not very well thought out route network?
Hey Mysore isn't really that bad. Obviously coming from Hyderabad, Mysore may seem a little low-key to you. There aren't as many IT companies here and real estate value is only now slowly picking up. Still there's lots to see and do in Mysore city :)
According to me, the main reason why Mysore and Bangalore differ so much even though they are neighbouring cities is because Mysore has a horrible airport that can barely even be considered an airport. Don't even get me started on the bad roads and transport facilities.
Mysore practices 'experiential tourism' that does not beleive in converting old public facilities to new, better quality ones. I feel there is not much development going on apart from the 'sight seeing' aspect.
I think Mysore is very beautiful but then tourism department is very bad. They should do something about that because Mysore can improve a lot with revenue from tourism.
