Q: Guys, who has heard of this monsoon plan in Secunderabad? I heard the authorities were trying to fix the waterlogging problems in this area. You all know anything? Like, what are they doing, what’s the status, etc?

Yes I know, that department is totally useless. All that they are telling us now is that three teams have been entrusted to deal with any emergency situation when the monsoon is in full force. They will have a total of four vehicles. This is all that we, as residents of Secunderabad are going to have in case some problems arise this monsoon. Otherwise, the desiltation of the drains has been done, so that’s one good thing. The condition of the works is not good at all. The Secunderabad circle has 17 waterlogging points, out of which only 4 were fixed.

I swear! This whole thing has been a major fail. They were supposed to have completed the works by the end of June. So far only 180 of those potholes have been filled. Just 2 roads have been fixed. The worst thing is that when you ask the Engineering wing for answers, they are unable to provide you with any real useful information. They don’t even know how much work has been done, or how much more is there left to go!

The monsoon plan right now isn’t looking so good, I’m afraid. So far barely 50% of the planned works have been completed, and I think Secunderabad is going to have another tough monsoon this year. This whole monsoon plan of the Secunderabad municipal corporation was such an overhyped thing. Its sad that now it has practically fallen to the ground. The corporation was planning to fix the roads, by patching up the potholes and repairing the other water stagnation points. There are over 300 potholes on the Secunderabad road itself, all of which need urgent work. Otherwise they all get seriously clogged up whenever it rains.
