And from what Ive heard, the norm now is that a three-member team is to be appointed by the state government. This team will prepare the report on the project, and then only can the local body go ahead.

Yes I heard about that too, that the mayor is now blaming CPI(M) for all this mess. According to them, obviously one person cannot be responsible for issuing the permit for such a big project. Obviously he was pressurised from above. And since the CPI(M) was in charge of the city’s civic administrations, all fingers are now pointed at them.

Actually thats what is causing all this problem. Its really too bad for those who had already invested in the DLF project because now the corporation is claiming that they wont issue occupation certificates for it :(

Hey not only that, you know. The mayor also said that all the officials will have to consult with him before issuing clearance for the building permits in the CRZ. Now he is blaming the CPI(M) for not checking all the provisions for the CRZ in the DLF project.

The corporation is going to thoroughly check every building permit application, especially for the projects that are happening in the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ). This was regulated by the mayor of Kochi actually. So I think they are taking this whole debacle rather seriously.

Oh yes. That controversy really shook things up. The government has become much more aware now. They have started up a bunch of new rules, which makes it really hard for any kind of discrepancy to happen.
