Latest Answer: Yes actually it started all the way back in 2007. This was one of the JnNURM projects. But the residents in the nearby Piravam area were protesting against all the road digging for the pipe laying, so it all got delayed. There was also a delay in getting the permission from the NHAI to cut the road

The thing is that so far, the city has been only able to spend 46% of the allotted Rs 517 crores, and without further approval from the centre, nobody knows what steps to take. The projects are lying abandoned at the moment.

Latest Answer: Actually there will be mostly a number of buses and trucks, because of the mobility hub. And not only the Kaniampuzha road, there are plans to widen the Vytilla-Pettah road as well. Both these roads will contribute in decongesting Vytilla, which has become a bit of an issue lately.

Q: Hey guys, I’m considering investing in Kochi. I was told that the locality of Kalamassery has a lot of potential, what with the technology innovation zone and all that. Can you guys give me more info on this? What exactly is this technology innovation zone?
Latest Answer: The whole proposed facility is supposed to be spread over an area of 13.2 acres. The facility itself is going to be 3 lakh sq. ft big, and is being set up by the Technopark-Technology Business Incubator (T-TBI). The funds allotted to the further growth of this zone is Rs 150 crores. We’re expecting the plan to get ready within a month, and the TIZ to be fully operational in the next couple of years. Naturally, it will lead to more job openings and people are going to flock to Kochi. They will look for places to stay near this zone, so yeah, I also agree that Kalamassery seems like the right option to invest in Kochi at the moment.
