MUDA updates on Mysore ORR

We are expecting that once completed, it will significantly reduce traffic congestion within the city as the vehicles from rural hinterland will not need to enter the city.

Once completed, the ORR will connect the Mysore-Hunsur Road, Bangalore-Mysore Road, Mysore-Bannur Road, Mysore-Nanjangud Road, Bogadhi and Mysore-H D Kote Road.

The idea for the 6-laning of the ORR was conceived after the reports of a survey projected that by 2029, there will be 65,000 cars plying through this road per day.

At present the ORR is 5 metre wide, with the main road being 4 metre on either side and 5.5 metre wide service roads on either side, apart from the 3 metre median with street lights installed every 30 metres.

They are expecting the completion date of the project to be around April 2015.

Yes, and this includes the incomplete 9.3 km stretch between Nanjagud junction and Bannur road junction.

The total cost of widening the entire length of this project is coming up to around Rs 239.51 crores.

According to the MUDA Commissioner, the entire 41.53 km stretch of the ORR is going to be expanded into a 6-lane stretch.

The only problem is that a piece of land at Bandipalya is coming in the way of the expansion. It belongs to the APMC, and a land exchange is being planned. Lets hope that it happens.

The development process is still underway. Basically currently it is being expanded to become 6-lane.
