During night time, some contractors have been dumping debris at these open places. The sanitation dept has even asked the police to intervene, because there have been incidents in the past when the dept men have gotten beaten by such contractors in the past when they tried to stop them.
I live on road no. 7, in Trimoorthy colony, a plot of almost 100 sq yard has been turned into a dumping yard with stray dogs and cats.
We have complained about it a number of times but no action has been taken so far.
Yeah the two parks sanctioned at Road no. 1 and 10 in Mahendra Hills, back in 2011, are still work-in-progress and now house thick bushes and trees jutting out on the uneven surface.
There are more than 20 open spaces scattered across here in Mahindra hills, which either have turned into open nalas or are used by pigs and dogs to feed on garbage.
Yeah the SCB doesn’t give any maintenance fee to colony members for development of parks. Most of the existing parks have been developed by the colony members at their own expense. They only look after them on their own.
Since this land doesnt fall under the GHMC limits, the corporation's urban biodiversity wing is not responsible for park development. If it had been, it would have also got a fixed monthly maintainence amount.
The SCB are showing no initiative, instead of taking the responsibility of these open zones, Health Department is asking us colony residents to take charge and develop our own parks.
