Protests in Kuvempunagar CESC Office regarding water supply
Q: Hey I was traveling by the New Kantharaj Urs Road and saw this rally of sorts. Later I heard news that it was about water supply. Can I get details?
There has been heavy rain. And already we know how the drainage in residential areas was not repaired and that has led to flooding in Kuvempunagar region. Imagine the plight of these farmers. They just can't do anything if their crops get flooded. At least let them use the IP sets for alternate crops na.
Farmers in Mysore have always been very sensitive. I think it is unfair for the government to do this. Because of this now, there will be traffic block in New Kantha Raj Urs Road area. And the unrest will only increase.
"Yeah the dharna was under the banner of some hasiru sene (green brigade). I just saw only that much. If the government is claiming to be supportive of the farmers then they can't be doing this. It is harsh to cut off power supply to IP sets in village farms
"
I dont know how this is going to affect the residents in the area. But in general it is adding to the unrest against the government and corporation. The power minister had stated that there will be criminal cases for having unregistered IP sets. And the farmers are already facing so much problem due to rains. How can they deal with all this?
I saw slogans against the state government and the power minister D K Shhivakumar. Also unrest from the farmers was seen it seems. They were upset with the Congress government. They even called the government 'anti- farmer' and hypocrite
No no. Not exactly that. These farmers were all given an irrigation pump set, an IP set as part of a recent govt initiative to aid them in farming. But this CESC brought new policy onto the power sanction for farmers. Hence the protest.
It was a dharna ya. This CESC Office is actually the Chamundeswari Electricity Supply Corporation. These folks are the ones contracted to the state govt I guess. They were supposed to provide power supply to the farmers around the area I guess.
