Hey there, i would like to add that MUDA maintains parks in layouts it develops but cannot maintain individual plots, as it involves a huge cost. The new guidelines will make owners cough up the cost incurred by local authorities to keep vacant sites clean employing outsourced workers.

Hi, a change has been proposed by the ministry keeping in mind that ill-maintained vacant sites can be breeding grounds for mosquitoes, snakes and weeds. Many have also become dumping grounds for garbage. Thus new regulations are being mapped out.

"Hey, i would like to add that Section 19(6) of the Site Distribution Rules states that a person must construct on the site allotted to him or her within five years. However, Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Commissioner Palaiah confirmed that in Mysore city alone, about 60,000 sites are lying vacant. Hence this new regulation is all the more essential.

Yes, you heard correctly. As a result of large amount of vacant land in many layouts, the department of Urban Planning, Government of Karnataka is likely to introduce new guidelines across the State for the upkeep and maintenance of vacant sites that are overgrown with weeds
