Q: Hello everyone, I heard that GHMC is in great hurry to collect Rs. 1500 crores of tax overdues and will supposedly try to collect them in the next 45 days.
Hello. I got to know about some of the statistics that shed light into how many have paid the taxes. Out of the 13.85 lakh properties over 7.51 lakh property's taxes have been cleared while over 6.34 property taxes have yet to be paid.
The civic body has to collect the property tax from around 64,669 non-residential properties in the city and that’s where efforts were to raise the amount. There is an elaborate plan to get to this. Each of the deputy commissioners have been asked to go after the top 1,000 defaulters in their jurisdiction and the drive also involves 337 nodal officers and 1,450 outreach staff.
There are a lot of defaulters in play here that are holding out on a lot of money. The major defaulters are around 18,000 who are holding up around Rs.478 crore. GHMC's trying to focus on making them clear the dues and also pay the current demand
While that is all about the positives. The body has assured of some really hard action against defaulters thaat do not budge. I have heard that those people will be issued red notice. They do need to be stern about such defaulters too.
Yes.. Exactly. You know last year alone the GHMC managed to solve around 400 plus cases with this approach and dispatch them off to arrive at a better conclusion. Now I think these steps must be followed everywhere. These civic bodies owe it to the people to be more civilised about things.
GHMC is doing good actually. Say if one is not convinced about the tax calculation, they are asking them to discuss the issue with its officers. Genuine cases are being re-evaluated and due to this most of them are coming forward for a resolution.
You know Somesh Kumar has said that many taxpayers had made their grievances known to the GHMC about the harsh steps taken by the civic body towards collecting the tax. He has now said that they should not follow with the same ways and find out better ways for it instead.
Yes. So the Commissioner Somesh Kumar has said that his agency will talk to the defaulters personally and try to come up with amicable solutions as possible. They have now planned to discuss and persuade the defaulters to make the payment.
The GHMC has collected over 674 crore rupees till the Monday of this week which was the 23rd enroute to their target of 1464 crore rupees. This time they have out done themselves by collecting 97 crores more than the previous year.
Hi. There has been some new updates on how the GHMC will make the tax collection. So supposedly the commissioner Somesh Kumar has now said that the civic body will not resort to pressurize the defaulters by seizing assets, demolishing walls or dumping garbage bins in front of their property.
It has collected a total of Rs. 650 crores so far which is not even half of what their actual target was. Now the GHMC is closely working with the electricity board so that they can identify who are using commercial connection so that they can access it as a commercial property.
The officials have come up with an elaborate plan to collect the taxes. As of my knowleddge and what I heard , GHMC will go about this on priority basis and will go forth with the Top 50 defaulters first.
You know there seems to be a monkey wrench sort of a situation for the GHMC right now as a couple of big companies that were supposed to pay up have close up shop and are no longer functional. They are Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) at Rs. 10 crores, Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited (IDPL) of Rs. 12 crores and Hindustan Cables Limited at Rs. 10 crores.
There's more news here; the officials are taking to all these defaulters about paying up the taxes and are following them up with an ultimatum. If the properties fail to do so, GHMC will suppoedly rn a red-notice on them and confiscate all their movable and tangible assets.
True. Here are the names of a couple of the defaulters and the money that they are owing. Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences which owes property tax of Rs. 15.76 crores, South Central Railway which owes Rs. 9.64 crores and GVK One- Mall which owes Rs. 2.48 crores.
Hey. I read that there are supposedly 2000 major defaulters in total that have not paid their taxes as yet and the entire sum of taxes thse defaulters owe is some where around Rs. 385 crores. And also there are others who have backlogs from the previous year.
So additional commissioner of revenue fro GHMC was saying that there were 13.6 lakh properties in their limits and that over 10 lakh of them had taxes that were less than or equal to Rs. 5000 while the rest were Big commenrical complexes and other high-rise b
Yes. Greater Hyderabad Metropolitan Corporation is now given a target to collect over Rs. 1500 crores in the next one and a half months which has suddenly brought them back to speed. They are running around identifyng the top defaulters to reach the said target.
