As per sources, initiatives taken by government are Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) , Developed by Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC), BRTS will have 3 corridors & Work on part of first corridor going on. Underground drainage developed & undertaken by RMC, the project will greatly improve the underground drainage system . The Aji River front is being redeveloped. About Rs 50 crore allotted to the project by the state government. Bhagwatipara Railway Overbridge will solve the traffic congestion issue in the area is Under construction.
Housing for urban poor is an effort to make Rajkot a slum-free city. RMC has approved 2 housing projects at an estimated cost of about Rs 140 crore. Which is under control. Rajkot is witnessing a good growth in real estate, thanks to the fast growing IT/ITeS sector and automobile industry. One may find a good number of independent houses and apartments by some prominent builders. Some of the prominent localities in Rajkot include Kalawad Road, Sadhu Vasvani Road, Rajya Road, Yagnik Road and Airport Road.
The 'Smart City' project envisages Rajkot as a 'Sensitive, Modern, Affordable, Robust Infrastructure and Technology Driven' city in future. Rajkot will free from slums, diseases, traffic problems, pollution, drinking water shortage and sort out other problems which stand as hurdles for the progress of the city. RMC has identified about 700 children in city who are malnourished and will be given adequate health and nutrition facility in the coming days. It will also conduct health check-ups of sanitation workers.
As per my knowledge, Rajkot is the fourth-largest city in Gujarat and one of the fastest developing cities in India. The city is famous for several industries including textile printing, casting and forging industries. The strategic location of the city makes it one of the leading industrial centers of Gujarat. There are several other factors that make Rajkot a fast growing city.
According to me, the Smart City programme will be launched on August 15. Short term work for development of Rajkot as 'Smart City' will be completed by October 2 and while planning for long term work will be done within this time also. The Gujarat government is also planning to develop five new cities in anticipation of a major new scheme for the development new smart cities.
Hi Guys, As per different sources, RMC will also focus on beautification of Rajkot. It will re-develop 'Racecourse garden', the main hub for gathering in the city. It will also develop other parks and gardens in the city under Public Private Partnership (PPP).
