Here is some background information on this whole thing. KSWDC was launched in 1988 with a mission to address the advancement of women in Kerala. Though Kerala has achieved good results in segments such as health and education, the State is yet to take a lead in women’s entrepreneurship. KSWDC is planning to help women make significant contribution in trade and commerce, according to its officials

Even the government is being involved in this. The project is meant to be an initiative in empowering women. Kerala Governor made a reference to the project in his speech in the Assembly sometime last week.

The project will be part of the government’s initiative to bring women into the mainstream of society through meaningful trade and associated activities. I think that this has the potential to impact women's conditions the most.

Did you know that the the project will have an incubation section, start-up wing and facilitation centre, all exclusively for women. It is amazing to think how much the times have changed for us women, right?

As a woman, i think this is the best thing that the city has done for us. The complex is to be established on one acre of land in possession of the corporation where a women’s hostel is situated.

From what i know, the project was in its conceptual stage and financial outlay was being worked out, according to a top official of the corporation. As far as funding goes, i know that external funding is being mooted for the execution of the project.

Yes, i heard the same news, and decided to check it out. The Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation (KSWDC) will set up a women’s trade centre at Kakkanad in Ernakulam. The multi-storeyed complex is envisaged to house various wings to support entrepreneurship among women.

What is the background for this project, and what about funding? Thanks for answering!
