Updates on the Gurukul trust Land issue in Hyderabad
Q: Hello everyone. Please provide some information on the Gurukul Land Trust issue. Is it safe to invest in here now? Are there any new updates on this issue in the high court?
Hey but I have heard that the government has decided to treat these Trust lands as Urban Land ceiling lands to enable regularisation. GHMC had demolished few buildings last June, but the demolition was stopped midway after the issue took a political turn.
The state was asked to make a special committee with officers in the rank of commissioner from the concerned departments together with representatives from the trust and occupiers to arrive at a moderate rate for regularisation. The court ruled that the government shall utilize some of this regularization fees for allotting land to the Gurukul Trust instead of encroached land.
the state failed to protect the trust land and directed it to frame a special scheme for regularizing the plots and flats built on the trust land by housing societies and third parties and to earmark a portion of this income for buying alternative land for the trust.
Yeah, the Telangana government reviewed this order saying that it is not practically possible for it to compensate the trust with alternative land. It also wanted the High Court to uphold the order of the tribunal set up under the Urban Land Ceiling Act which declared 576 acres of trust land as surplus and said that this should go to the government
Hey recently, the Hyderabad high court refused to review the orders passed in September 2012 where it had held that almost all the 576 acres of the trust land were occupied, sold or encroached because of which the state should provide the trust an equal extent of alternative land on the outskirts of Hyderabad city.
