You know, the Implementation of Aliyar combined water supply scheme which at Rs24.8crore and over head tanks at Kurichi and Kuniyamuthur with assistance from the state government through integrated urban development scheme were also in the initiatives which were involved in this.

Hey, I think automated escalators and footpaths would be set up in front of Singanallur bus stand for which Rs1cr has been allotted. After the modern fish market, a modern meat market has been proposed in all the five zones for which Rs2.5cr has been allotted.

I came to know that a corporation zonal office for the south zone would also be set up this year at a cost of Rs4.8cr. A sum of Rs157crore has been allotted for road works and Rs2crore for streetlights.

There are also other announcements for the city. They are setting up of pathways at race course, an aviary park at VOC Park, a vegetable market at Kurichi and night shelters with modern facilities along with medical treatment room on Arokiasamy road.

Since Coimbatore is an industrial city and witnesses a surge in computer usage resulting in e-waste accumulation, a modernized warehouse would be set up under the solid waste management scheme. This would be a good move by the government.

I think that the fresh announcements were few and far between, although they are likely to spike public interest, especially the effort to make Coimbatore a WiFi city. Other fresh projects include e-waste warehouse, natural fertilizer factory, bio-methanisation plant and escalators at Singanallur bus stands.

Hey, this years budget had very little to offer to the city. in terms of major infrastructure projects other than the projects announced by former chief minister J Jayalalithaa such as Vellalore bus stand, multilevel car parking and ring road around Sanganoor pallam.
