New Government rule: Flats for poor in all apartments

Q: Has anyone heard about this news? Will it really going to work out?

There should be some common sense in this approach. The 15% reservatio. should be allowed anywhere in the city and not within that project. Please note the poor doesn't become rich by making the rich poor. China had trumpeted this fact.

According to the new government rule, 15 per cent of the total space in posh apartments and villas is to be reserved for the urban poor.

For example, if there is an apartment complex having 2000 apartments, 300 apartments should be reserved for poor.

This is actual a good news :) :)

The new regulation has been introduced as a part of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) which focus on provide affordable housing to the urban poor. It is mandatory to reserve 15% in every housing project to urban poor, if the state wants fully funding from JNNURM

Economically Weaker Section may be notified by the State government from time to time and who shall be provided with EWS housing site within a minimum carpet area of 25 sq m to 30 sq m. Low Income Group may be notified by the State government from time to time, and who shall be provided with housing site with a minimum carpet area of about 50 sq m.
