According to sources, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has sent a new proposition to civil aviation ministry saying that Jewar is a appropriate location for the second airport in the NCR. YEIDA has officially reserved more than 2500 ares of land in Jewar for this project as well as has also a proposition to augment Noida Metro line from Greater Noida to Jewar, a 48km passage with an investment of Rs 2000Cr.

The ministry is now anticipating the request of Uttar Pradesh govt, even though sources said that the UP government had verbally conveyed their approval. An airport in Jewar was initially proposed in 2001. This airport will be a help to Greater Noida,Noida and Yamuna Expressway real estate & this will pull in more global business with numbers of BPOs, IT firms & MNCs working here.

As per sources ,the proposition will soon be forwarded to the Cabinet for its approval. Once approved, the government would need to change rules & regulations that specified that no airport can come up inside of a 150km of a current one- for this situation, the IGI airplane terminal is very close to Gurgaon.
