Q: The tax will be known as Swachh Bharat cess, is not another tax but a step towards involving each and every citizen in making contribution to Swachh Bharat Mission.
Yes, we agree with this, Swachh Bharat abhiyaan Is Completely Changing the Face of Our Country. Making India Proud In all over the World. Every Country Is Looking into India and its Development. This Is Because of Our Beloved Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi only. His New Schemes are implementing very Successfully all over the Country and getting good results. Among It Swachh Bharat abhiyan is one of it. By Paying Swachh Bharat Ces Means Tax Will not a big deal for anyone. Because they are collecting only on Luxurious items only.
Yes its correct ,,, No more tax for sanitation purpose. People of India are already paying taxes. So no need for one more tax campaign. Deployment of officials and constant monitoring is mandatory. Look into this matter PM Modi.
Although finance minister Arun Jaitley had not announced the list of services that would face the latest cess but there were indications that the levy would be imposed on high-end services such as five-star hotel bills. But the government has opted for an across-the-board load on consumers.
But have you experienced ? A further increase of 0.5% service tax as Swachh Bharat cess will not only increase the effective service tax rate to 14.5% but also cause corporates to change their systems again to comply with this levy.
SIR, Just think about the taxes paid by an individual i.e. income tax cess, Education cess, sales tax. VAT, wealth tax, BSNL telephone charges service tax, taxes on eatable food stuff on hotel's service tax, water tax, road tax, toll tax, insurance premium service tax, some more taxes which i may not remember. I am failed to understand why there is a service tax for every service? Why so? If there is already a service and cess charges are there in a particular bill. Is it justify? I think that it is the inability of any govt. to run with the taxes already imposed.
Right Priyadarshini, The government levies a slaughter of cesses and surcharges ranging from the ones for education and health to those on petrol and diesel and petrol for highway construction. The latest one will only add to the burden. The cesses and surcharges are over and above the taxes that individuals and companies pay in the form of income tax, corporation tax, customs duty on imported goods, central excise, service tax and state levies such as VAT.
It means everything from our mobile bills to eating out in air-conditioned restaurants, a visit to a spa, dry cleaning charges and coaching classes fees are set to get more expensive with the government deciding to levy a 0.5% Swachh Bharat cess on all services that attract service tax.
I am sure that this money will go into our politicians electoral propaganda and less on the mission.
Right Vani, Finance Minister told in a statement on Friday that the levy, which was announced in the budget, would be imposed from November 15. At the same time they also told that this cess would be used for meeting specific goals around Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious sanitation and cleanliness programme, which includes building toilets across the country.
Swachh Bharat does not need new taxes but better deployment of existing ones. The chief ministers are wrong and the central government should avoid levying more taxes. Public health and sanitation are tasks entrusted to state governments by India's Constitution.
You are right Lewin, The taxes they currently collect and transfers they receive from central government should be adequate for them to provide sanitation facilities. If even today about half of India's population is estimated to defecate in the open, it is state's massive failure to provide an essential need for healthy living.
Yes, this tax will translate into a tax of 50 paisa only on every Rs 100 worth of taxable services. The proceeds from this cess will be exclusively used for Swachh Bharat initiatives.
Mr Modi, Yesterday you told us that govt. has recovered 10000 crore from black money, pleasd used that money for Swatch Bharat, neither than taking from poor Indians. This is the "Acche Din" we voted for. My City was more cleaner 2 years before then what it is today.
