Q: The residents, who are facing severe water scarcity and suffering because of poor roads and streetlights for the past many years, asked the municipal authorities why should they pay property tax if the civic body could not provide even basic facilities.
Hi all, I think they have done a fantastic job. The Aurangabad Municipal Corporationhas no right to ask for the tax, as it has not fulfilled the expectations of the residents. People are quite angry with the civic authorities and hence they have taken the step.
Yes, they have met multiple time with mayor Trimbak tupe, municipal commissioner Sunil Kendrekar and other senior officers and brought local issues to their notice, but nothing has changed here. Civic authorities always replied them that they have short of fund. Where are those tax money going?
I met with the few residents of Shreeram Nagar and found that they are the instant tax payers. They have no dues till date. But as the civic authorities have paid no attention to their issues, they have no other option.
They have done the good job......Hats off to them. The condition of the locality is becoming worse day-by-day. That is why they have decided not to pay property tax in the current fiscal.
You are right Sadhna, Many internal roads in the locality have developed big potholes as the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation failed to spare funds. Similarly, the residents witnessing are acute water scarcity, as the authorities are supplying tap water once in 4 to 5 days forcing them to buy water from private agencies.
