Q: The state government has reduced by half the minimum plot size required for a project to be launched under the Samajwadi Awas Yojna, a scheme for the lower and middle income group.
Hi Praneetha, This has been done to accommodate small developers and land owners who want to build housing schemes under Samajwadi Awas Yojna. As per the new order, the minimum plot area must be 2.5 acres.
At the same time, the government has also reduced the width of a project's approach road from 18 metres to 12 metres. The move followed many private builders complaining that many projects failed to get sanction because of the clause.
It is a good move by the UP Governement. Relaxations offered by the government will go a long way in encouraging small developers and land owners in Ghaziabad and the state. As much as 20 small developers are likely to benefit from this amendment.
Govt. has also reduced the minimum carpet area has now been fixed to 40 sq-m while the maximum remains at 70 sq-m. We should really appreciate this move. It will really help the small builders.
I hear the news. A government order in this regard has also been issued by the principal secretary of UP Housing and Urban Planning department to all development authorities across the state. The government plans to construct 3 lakh units under the scheme by the end of this year.
Hi Raj, They have amended the law governing Samajwadi Awas Yojna launched last year, the government has reduced the minimum area required for a project to be launched from 5 acres to 2.5 acres.
