Can I go ahead and register my property using the sale deed draft which was given to me by the builder of my apartment?
Q: I am buying an apartment in Bangalore and I have received a sale deed draft from the builder. Can I go ahead with the registration process using the draft? How does one usually go about with this process. Please advice
Hi Jyotsna,
The sale deed is the most important document when purchasing any piece of real estate as it decides your fate. This is the document by which the seller transfers his right to you, and you acquire an absolute ownership of the property.
One of my friends registered the sale deed the builder provided without getting it reviewed. He landed himself in deep trouble because of this. Most of the times the fine print is always in favor of the builder. I suggest you get the document reviewed by an experienced property lawyer. It only costs a couple of thousand rupees, but can assure you peace of mind.
