Now this builder wants more money. Are they allowed to ask?

Q: Now this builder wants more money to cover the losses on legal fees and material costs..not to forget their profit. Are they allowed to do that specially now when the Govt is asking them to pay interest on delayed projects.

Hi folks,
As far as other expenses are concerned if those are covered by the agreement then you are not bound to make such payment.

If you decide to pay under protest then remit the amount through a cheque drawn in his favor. You have the right to seek a demand letter. Do not pay on the basis of an oral demand.

No, they can't. And specially, if there is no such clause for it. Check your agreement first. Is there any such charges mentioned on it? If not then avoid and reply them that if they harass you more then you will take legal action.

Hi,
I always suggest my reader that before buying a house, a buyer must do a thorough due diligence of the building. A prospective buyer must thoroughly go through the original copy of the agreement with the builder. One must verify the original documents of the property. The title of the Vendor to the property must be clear and marketable. The buyer must search the title re port for the last few years.
