How kothrud is developing as a residential locality in Pune?

Q: I know this locality is primarily know for some prominent educational Institutions such as Cummins Engineering College, MIT, Garware College and Bhartiya Vidyapeeth etc. Is it a good locality for rental return?

If you are planning to buy a flat in Kothrud, go for Amit Ved Vihar Phase-2 or, Guardian The Palladium. Its recently launched project by reputed developer of Pune and both are RERA Registered.
As far as connectivity is concerned, It is located just 8.6 km from the Mumbai-Pune Bypass, and has a bus depot and bus stands that satisfy the transportation needs of people living in this area. Pune International Airport which is located at a distance of 16 km via Sangamwadi Road. Pune Junction is the nearest railway stations to Kothrud. Kothrud is serviced by the PMPML Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited, and has two main bus depots - Kothrud Depot and Kothrud Stand. Buses connect it to other parts of Pune like Nigdi, Hadapsar, Railway station and Swargate.

Being the resident of this locality, i am giving you the short overview on this locality. Kothrud, located to the south-west of Pune, has witnessed rapid development in recent years. Locality has seen rapid growth in terms of real estate that made it one of the fastest developing suburbs in Asia in 1980s. The pace at which this area has developed can be confirmed by the fact that it was named in the Guinness Book Of World Records. Gokhalenagar, Deccan Gymkhana, Sadashiv Peth, Dattawadi, Karve Nagar, Warje, Bavdhan and Pashan are its neighbouring localities. Industrial development and the strong foothold of IT Industry has strengthen the growth of this area.

Saurav, You have got the right info on this locality. It is quite popular for its educational institutions. The first flyover of the Pune city i.e Savarkar Flyover which connects the two major arterial Karve Road and Paud Road was built in Kothrud. A well-planned and well-maintained area, Kothrud is pollution-free when compared to neighbouring areas. In addition to this, Kothrud offers superb basic amenities like good water and power supply and good social infrastructure facilities that are required for everyday living. A number of restaurants, banks and ATMs, shopping complexes, markets, retail brand stores, etc. cater to the requirements of its dwellers.
