How to buy property?

Q: Hi,
I have to buy a plot, and willing to know what documents I should check and what questions to ask from owner/builder?
Should I consult with any govt authority?

And what is the right process to pay to land owner? I plan to pay all at once and get land registry done for my name.
Any suggestion would be appreciable.

Before buying the property you have to gathered the all the legal document to register the property on your name that are - property tax receipt, residential certificate, Power of attorney, NOC and Builiding plan, Bank Statement, GST number etc.

I think you have to pay the property amount in installment rather than once.

It is always advisable to pay via bank cheque. If you pay through bank cheque, you have a evidence of paying bill to the landlord. You can also use the transaction date as a proof in court.
