Q:We are 4 bachelors who have taken an apartment as rent in SJR Brooklyn. We paid all charges along with move-in charges. We live together as a family, we buy common groceries and share all expenses. Now one of us has to shift out and a new guy will replace him. Is this legal to ask for move-in charges again for a bachelor guy who hardly has 2 bags with him. Nothing has been changed, no furnitures, no mailboxes. Legally move in charges are taken for the services provided when a family shifts in like reconstruction of bathroom floor tiles, painting of walls, changes in mail boxes, shifting of heavy furnitures which may damage lifts. But in our case only a guy will replace another guy. So please justify the move-in charges.
Latest Answer: I completely agree with you Mr Sambaranm that a bachelor guy should not be charged move-in charges. But some apartments charge a move-in fee as a way of covering the cost of the various changes that are made between residents. You can try to talk with the landlord and negotiate.
Q:4 of us are planning to share the house, just to tell about us no habits, basically all of us are from different parts of Karnataka brought in decent family and working for IT companies.
