Tenant verification mandatory.

Q: Has tenant verification been made mandatory? What has to be done for the verification?

The rule has been made mandatory under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). ACP in Bangalore has given rights to the police officers to collect tenant information from the land owners. From now onwards all the house owners have to register their tenant’s name and address at the nearest police station. In case of foreign nationals, they have to provide a copy of passport and documents which support the purpose of stay.
