The work has begun on Nayandahalli-Kengeri (6.4km) on the western corridor, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) is ready to float tenders for work on Puttenahalli-Anjanapura (6.29km ) stretch on the southern corridor. Plans are still on papers for the proposed Nagasandra-BIEC (3.77km) stretch on the northern corridor and preparatory work is under way for Byappanahalli-Whitefield stretch (15.5km) on the eastern corridor.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited is planning to borrow Rs.12,000 crore approximately of loan from various international banks and investors to complete the second phase of the Namma Metro
Land acquisition (first batch) under Namma Metro Phase II started on Friday. Property owners between Nayandahalli and Kengeri ( Reach 2) were compensated for their land acquired for metro work.
The work for Phase-II, an extension of all reaches of Phase-I, with two new lines, is all ready to start. A total of 55 properties around six acres have been acquired under Namma Metro Phase II
The amount has exceeded to Rs 100 crores that need to be paid for acquired land. Recently, metro handed over compensation to Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board that has handed it over to individuals whose land was acquired for Reach-2 of Phase-II.
Metro Phase II which will be extended till ITPL, Whitefield will have 14 stations namely-Jyothipuram, KR Puram,Narayanapura, Mahadevapura, Garudacharpalya, Doddanakundi, Visvesvaraya Industrial Estate, Kundanahalli, Vaidehi, Hospital, Satyasai Medical Institute, ITPL, Kadugodi, Ujwala Vidyalaya and Whitefield
The Metro Phase II will be completed by end of year 2017. Definately, after the launch of Phase I the realty prices along areas experienced a huge demand and the prices of the properties also increased overnight. The real estate market will surely outgrow with the launch of Metro Phase-II.
The Phase 2 line will have a total of 61 stations, 12 of which will be underground. This requires approximately 180-200 hectares of land and about 2,000 properties will be demolished.
KIADB is now conducting hearings for land-owners with objections. Acquisition will be restricted to land required for viaduct and stations alone. BMRCL wants to start with the construction work on Phase 2 by 2014, and settle down all land acquisition issues at the earliest.
According to sources, a circular issued by BMRCL said that land will be acquired between the Mysore Road terminal and Kengeri, Byappanahalli station to ITPB, and the RV Road-Bommasandra stretch. Most of this land will be used for building 14 Metro stations between Byappanahalli and ITPB, five on the Mysore Road-Kengeri stretch and 16 stations between RV Road and Bommasandra
