The builders is opposing the proposal because they said that the government has sufficient vacant land which can be utilized for the construction of the affordable housing for the lower income group people.
According to sources, the government said any residential project in Nagpur coming up in an area of 2000 sq. mtr. or more must reserve 20 percent of the construction area for the affordable housing segment.
The builders of the city have opposed the proposal saying that it is government's responsibility to provide affordable accommodation for the economic weaker section of the state.
The builders are not interested to reduce the area of construction for their projects. And they also think that the government has many idle land where the low cost apartments can be constructed.
