The third phase will take several years for completion but it will bring vast stretches of the City such as Koramangala, Sarjapur, HRBR Layout and Magadi road under the Namma Metro network.
The 133-km phase will cover hitherto unconnected areas of Koramangala, Sarjapur, HAL. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has begun the spadework. Cheers!!
A trial test on the line was carried out from Peenya to Yeshwanthpur, a distance of 5.3 km. Tomorrow they are planning to carry out the trial runs from 8 am to 8 pm.
The two phase have been designed to accommodate 40,000 people in one hour during peak hours. The number of daily passengers is estimated in 2013 is 12 lakh and 19 lakh in 2021.
Phase I is almost done and it will be functional by 2014. Phase II is waiting for the formal clearance and Phase III is still in proposed stage. After the state government gives the nod for Phase III, BMRC will start with the detailed project report which will take 18 months to get completed. The state government will announce Phase III after the central government clears Phase II for implementation.
According to the BMRC director, Phase III should connect areas on the ring routes and connect outlying regions with the central business district, commercial hubs and prime work places.
