What is the point of increasing property tax, anyways it is quite high??? I stay in Malleshwaram and you could see most of the footpaths in Malleswaram are left unattended for more than 10 years. BBMP is least bothered to improve the footpaths.
I agree... but BBMP has decided to put a limit to a maximum of 20 percent for residential properties and 25 percent for commercial properties in Bengaluru which is good.
Yes you are right Mr Japesh. Recently BBMP has organised a special property tax collection camp on the premises of Garden Apartment, Magadi Road and they have seen a positive response. The revenue inspector said that they are planning to organize such special camps in other residential complexes also.
It's okay @yogendra Whatever the reason is, but as of now the property tax has not been revised and the elections are also over so do you think bruhat bangalore mahanagara palike property tax will be revised?
Hi Richa, I do not think BBMP should increase the property tax rather they should legalize B Khata property to pay the taxes. Anyway buying a property involves hell lot of money, if they increase the tax then the inflation rate will go high. Whats your opinion?
As far as I think, the main reason why BBMP always fail to achieve their target is because the property tax has not been revised since 2008. Every time the revision of property tax gets postponed.
BBMP again missed the target for collecting property tax. Reason they are saying is the election. Even I heard that this time collection was worst compared with 2012-13.
Yes you are right but in case of payment by cheque, temporary acknowledgement will be given at first. After the payment is transferred to BBMP account, actual receipt will be issued.
The authority had actually stopped taking cheques for payment after many of them bounced. More than 8,800 cheques worth over Rs. 5.5 crore were dishonoured last year.
In Bangalore, you can choose to make online payment at the BBMP website. If you prefer the online payment method, then you must keep your BESCOM and BWSSB number handy as you will require these numbers while filling up the online form.
You can pay online through your Visa or Mastercard credit card. The BBMP does not charge anything extra for payments made through debit cards of banks such as IDBI, ICICI and Corporation Bank. For further information you can click on this link: Property Tax Guide: Bangalore
It is a known fact that online payment method is more convenient when compared to offline method.
However, if you still choose to make your property tax payment manually, then you will have to choose between the Blue (Form V) and White (Form IV) form, depending on the changes in your property in recent years.
One can pay through cheques of RBI recognized banks in favour of BangaloreOne.
In a move to drum up the tax collection process for the fiscal year 2013-14, the civic body hiked the property tax rates. With such a move, the BBMP aimed to mop up nearly Rs 880 crore from the property owners.
As per recent market news, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has proposed to hike the property tax for the fiscal year 2014-15. The property tax for commercial buildings has been proposed to increase by 25%, while for residential units it is likely to increase by 15%.
According to Section 108-A (16) of the Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976, the BBMP is subjected to revise the property tax rate once in 3 years by a minimum of 15% and a maximum of 30%.
