The different categories are: MUDA developed properties (layouts), gram thana, Ashraya houses, Janata Colony, Slum Board, private properties (in private developed layouts), Housing Board, Karnataka Industrial Area Developmental Board (KIADB), non-approved layouts (developed on alienated lands after conversion), properties in government owned lands, revenue properties and lands meant for agriculture.

After that the owners has to confirm with the officials concerned about the survey of the area and submit the property records. After the whole process is done, the officials will decide whether to issue the ownership certificate to the owner or not.
