Hey Aluva has a lot of promise and potential! I used to visit my uncle there and kept thinking to myself that someday I would move there as well. It is one of the better developed parts of the city. It is in quite a good location because the Nambussadry airport is just 12 kms away and the railway station is in Aluva itself where a lot of trains stop. The locality is also blessed with a number of malls and entertainment centres! And it's also got beauty because this is the place where three tributaries of the Periyar river merge with the Pooyamkutty river. And I've heard that property there is affordable with a lot of scope for appreciation. Good choice!

Some safety problems are there in Aluva. Actually just last year a man was hacked to death in broad daylight! This was all over the news. Passersby all got a glimpse of oozing blood down the pavements of Aluva and rushed to help this man by taking him to the closest hospital. But he had died. Turns out that he was a gang member himself! So if you have children, then be extra careful in this place. There are a few rowdy gangs in the area. But if you take up a residential home then I'm sure it will be fine. There are some really good waterfront homes in Aluva with 24 hour security! :)

Yes the water problem was a pain for all the residents of Aluva. Even last year there were some minor water issues that could be easily fixed. In general, a lot of places in Kochi went very dry last year. Global warming I guess :P If you're thinking about investing in Aluva, please know that it is a very good idea. Aluva is 28 km from the city of Kochi and is located along the NH 47 so travelling to other parts of the city becomes easy! :) Infrastructure development in this area is well developed because there is high demand for property as well as a number of IT companies. So seriously consider this locality! :D

So there was a time, actually it was just last year, when Aluva was facing acute water shortage and this was a result of high level of salinity in the Periyar river that pupmed water to Aluva. I remember how pissed off people got when the situation didn't get better even after a week! The solution to decrease this salinity, was adding more water from the Bhoothathankettu dam into this river so that there would also be more water content and water supply. But in 2011, I think the situation got very bad because the water levels had receded in the Periyar river like never before. It was very sad for the residents because everyday tasks come to a stand still when there's no water. But anyway, the situation is okay now but still precaution must be taken just in case!
