Q: It seems that the local body is investing to develop the Valmiki Road into a 2 laner? Is this a boon or bane?

Valmiki Road, I am very sorry , the beautiful tree Canopy on this already reasonably wide road is on attack by widening project of this road. No body seem to understand this serious danger the trees are subjected to. The road work is eating to the very base of the huge trees endangering their very survival. Why no one see this. I have witnessed the Big JBC Machines carve in to the projecting routes of these treees and they being cut and cleared for the road base. I have tried to call attention of the media and tree lovers towards this. But failed to do so. Please see for yourself the trees are now exposed to the edge of the road there base projecting in to the widened road. The next job of squeezing will be done by the footpath makers of this road. Its only few year for these trees if this goes this way. Thanks to the infrastructure project of this new Govt.

I think the main reason the road is being diverted is because of the traffic diversion because of road work of widening the railway underbridge. So all the traffic had to be sent to Valmiki road as KRS Dassappa road had to be shut. And that became a big crisis situation. Traffic congestion was beyond horrible. So within 2, 3 months after that episode it was decided that roads would be widened as a result. But only thing is there shouldn't be much delays with the work. Fast pace good is always well done work! :)

Hey it is surely not such a bad thing. Because they are also looking to make the civic facilities improve in the locality. They are going to provide good underground drainage system, medians all along the road and even footpaths. Overall, it seems like it will only do the locality good. The simultaneous plans to build that amphitheatre in Gokulam will also be beneficial to the locality. This is all done to attract more tourists because there are already so many of them but civic facilities in Mysore are not good and upto standards.

I'm sure this project sn't going to be all fun. I mean sure the road would be widened but at what cost? A lot of other compromises have to be made. The Maharani Commerce College had to even be relocated and this affects the number of good colleges in the vicinity. Lots of traffic congestion will also happen. I don't think the road is big enough to accomodate all the traffic and the problem will only get worse. Especially when work is going on. Ayo big headache!

Yes that's right. The civic authrorities of Mysore are investing 1 and a half crores in this project Their plan is to widen the Valmiki road that connects the Hunsur road to the KRS road. They want to extend the road by 1.5 metres on either side and this road is ony a 1 km stretch. This is good because finally there will be more space to movee and what is supposed to be usedas a one way can now actually be used as a 2 way . Hopefully more infrastructural projects like this will come up all over the city. This will help increase the value of real estate in the city as well.
