Drainage issues in Mahalaxmi Nagar

Q: hi. Of late am hearing lots of rumors that Indore has very bad drainage system in the Mahalaxmi Nagar area. Want to know what the matter is exactly and if it has been resolved because I will be moving here soon.

Hello. This is a very troubling situation indeed. From what I know about the locality of Mahalakshmi Nagar, malaria is now becoming commonplace and this could get much more dangerous than it already is. The drainage even overflows on the road sometimes, and when IMC officers were approached they seemed incapable of resolving the problem. Living in this area is becoming very troublesome for almost everyone, and corporation is of no use in helping out.

I agree with you, the problem of drainage in Mahalakshmi Nagar has been around for quite a while now. we as residents have complained to all authorities we could get in touch with, like the president of society as well as Dainik Bhaskar in the medie but to no avail. The blockage of the drainage line has led to collection of waste in open plots, which makes the whole locality look and smell extremely filthy. Now there are several cases of malaria coming up in our locality and most of us are considering to leave the place.

Greetings to you. I am a resident of Mahalakshmi nagar and I have experienced such problems living here that I think I can pretty much speak for everyone living here. The biggest problem we are facing currently is that the main sewage line of the indore municipal corporation is not connected to the drainage line of the area. It was still working quite fine for the last few months because all the waste was directed towards an agricultural field. Recently the line has been blocked by the owner of this land for whatever reason and now we are put in a situation that is getting worse every day.
