Q: Hai! I am moving my home to Mehdipatnam but I keep reading in the paper about lot of problems in the area experienced by the locals. What sort of civic issues are there in this locality?
There were also irregular bus bays opposite Rythu bazar and Humayun Nagar Police Station. Lot of encroachments on the land by vendors and shop keepers. The commissioner has decided to open new vents all over the locality and also put in new traffic signals. Only thing I'm worried about is when all these works will finish because right now Mehdipatnam is in a very bad traffic state to the extent that research has been conducted on it.
Yes the commissioner also inspected the Tolichowki flyover on Toli chowki X roads. The flyover hasn't been completed and construction is still very much going on. The commissioner noticed the shoddy work by the contractor and how the construction works have diverted traffic to a large extend such that lot of traffic congestion is caused. The commissioner immediately made it clear that he wanted the road unclocked and repair work to be completed within 10 days. So now the problem is a little better. But still construction is not fully complete.
The new project with an advanced system of traffic regulation on the 13-km stretch from Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital in Mehdipatnam to Hitec City is still waiting for GHMC clearance. Once this is approved, it will be very good for the area as finally people can cross the road without having to wait for close to 20 minutes. The Commissioner has said that Hyderabad Municipal Corporation plans to widen the Laxmi Junction in Mehdipatnam so that traffic flow would ease up. Alshyo there are plans of constructing another flyover in the area. Total project is said to cost 20 lakhs which has been accepted. Let's hope this will finish fast!
Big problem crossing the road in Mehdipatnam. Since it located on the old Mumbai highway and is also the route to go to Shamshabad airport, there are too many vehicles on this road. Because of this pedestrians just cannot cross the road easily and it is a big headache for us. Cars and bikes don't bother to stop even once. This heavy traffic flow is actually quite dangerous for those wanting to cross the road and to the drivers themselves. But Mehdipatnam is the crossing point for people wanting to go to Gachibowli, Madhapur, Banjara Hilla and Asifnagar. So some alternate action must be taken and we must be provided with a pedestrian crossing signal.
