Water Supply in Khairatabad

Q: I've heard that only the posh localities in Hyderabad get uninterrupted water facilities. Does anyone know if Khairatbad has many civic issues related to water?

Definitely water problem is the main civic issue but that doesn't mean there aren't others. The roads in this area are pathetic and still the civic authrorities are not lifting a finger to do anything about it. Another big problem here is land encroachments. Whether it is slums or fancy buildings, you always have to be careful that you're not infiltrating an encroached building because notices will randomly be issued and you will end up having to vacate in a span of 3 days. I think Khairatbad is a very nice peacful locality. Just these issues need to be solved and it will be best place to live in Hyderabad.

Posh localities like Kundan Bagh and Punjagutta Colony, has dozens of IAS, IPS and IFS officers living there. A crazy amount of 20,000 litres of water reaches their homes without any interruption everyday. Contrary to this, important areas like Punjagutta, Ameerpet, Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar, Yousufguda and Somajiguda, which surrounds the CM's camp office, gets barely1000 litres on an average per area. I don't understand how equal distribution of water is such a problem in this city. Localities having a large demand for water also have a lot of competition for that commodity. SO people need to call water tankers 48 hours in advance as otherwise, the tankers would have run out of water.

"It is quite a sad situation. Residents from these areas say water supply is erratic and is only provided on alternative days. That too only for 45 minutes. Large families especially face a huge problem as a result of this, because they can only manage to fill a few pots of water. That's why they have to resort to mineral water bottles which is an added expense for them. In the summer months, the situation is a lot worse. Water supply is only there once in 3 days and in pitiful quantities. Something must be done about this situation by the Water Board immediately.

Yes this is something that has angered the residents of the locality. Khairatabad is an area that has a very swank population including movie stars, politicans and other famous celebrities. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board is located here and it supplies 60,000 litres of water to Raj Bhavan everyday. Even 2 government houses namely Dilkusha and Lakeview get constant supply of water. What about the other residents of the locality? Should they not get any more amount of water just because they are ordinary citizens? Seriously HMC needs to up its game!
